The town of Pembroke dates back over nine centuries and is famous for its Norman castle, where major events take place every year. The town is also known as being the birthplace of Henry VII.

For lovers of history there is plenty to see in Pembroke. One of Britain's finest Norman castles can be found in the town of Pembroke, while other medieval castles and Norman churches can be found in nearby towns and villages.




There are several leisure parks, including Oakwood Theme Park and Folly Farm, which is one of the most popular farms in Wales. There are several excellent golf courses, sports parks and wildlife parks all nearby and easily reachable by car.

The star attraction of Pembroke is the Norman castle, which has a stunning location high on a ridge between two tidal inlets. The castle serves as a venue for several major important events including medieval banquets and Shakespearean productions. The Pembroke Leisure Centre attracts many visitors. The centre offers many facilities for those who wish to be active during their stay in Pembroke including a 25-metre / 82-foot swimming pool, a health suite with spa bath, sauna and steam room, fitness facility, and a sports centre which facilitates football, badminton, football, hockey, volleyball, and various other sports

The Pembroke Visitors Centre offers excellent examples and displays of Norman life in Pembroke. The centre is of great historical importance as you will get the opportunity to travel back in time. The centre offers assistance with planning walks and routes. Pembroke and the area offer several great hiking tracks making it possible to get close to nature.

Pembroke Dock is only 3 km / 2 miles outside the city centre and offers yachting and water sports activities. Opened in 1997 the centre caters for travelers sailing to Wales from Ireland and also offers some useful info on Southern Ireland itself.
